SI Bank & Trust Foundation, initially SISB Community Foundation, was formed in December 1997 by the former Staten Island Savings Bank Board of Directors, with the approval of its depositors, when the Bank converted to a public company. Its mission has been to improve the quality of life in communities served by SI Bank & Trust. It was launched with the initial value of its endowment at $20 million.

SI Bank & Trust Foundation is currently the largest private foundation exclusively focused on the borough of Staten Island. Foundation assets have increased to over $84 million. Total giving is over $24 million in response to requests from over 750 different organizations in 8 fiscal years.

Foundation funding has supported a wide array of projects benefiting thousands of people of varying ages, ability, income and ethnicity. The Foundation has contributed to local projects of national significance as readily as it has contributed to arts organizations, schools, faith based groups, community centers, and community programs serving physically disabled, developmentally disabled, abandoned, abused, neglected, and homeless. Most dollars have gone to capital projects, but special programs and general operating support requests also receive assistance.

SI Bank & Trust Foundation giving is primarily in the areas of education, human services and arts and culture and it is entirely focused on services of benefit to the Staten Island community. More information including biennial reports are available at www.sibtf.org.
